My name is Jacqueline.
I started this blog because I wanted to share the things I make and the community we have around us.
I love combining food with stories. I’d like every single meal to have a story behind it. Food is one of the most important things in my life–something that has developed into creativity and generosity.
One goal of mine is to offer up homemade options for very basic foods allowing you to pass up canned or pre-made foods that can contain harmful or unnecessary ingredients.
Although most of my posts have been about food, I hope to incorporate other handmade items, gardening, community, coffee, and the beauty of nature.
Over the past few years I have been trying to make more things and become aware of where our products come from as well as appreciating what we have. After knitting my first scarf I had a lot more respect for handmade knitted items and am more willing to purchase these items knowing it was worked on by hand with quality yarn. After my first year gardening I had a better understanding of food, how to care for it, how to store it and what a difference small scale farming makes on flavor! Since working in specialty coffee I have realized the art behind fresh small-batch roasting and preparing coffee one cup at a time.
Above all, I love sharing these things with people. I enjoy having people over to eat, sharing recipes, sharing food, giving gifts, and participating in intentional community.
